The M25 motorway is closed anti-clockwise in Surrey after a three-vehicle collision involving an ambulance, police say.
The collision involved an ambulance, a car and a HGV.
The driver of the car has been taken to hospital with serious leg injuries, while the occupants of the other vehicles were unhurt.
Surrey Police said in a statement the motorway was closed between junctions 8 and 9 after the incident at around 3.30am.
The force said at 6am that the stretch of road would remain closed for at least three hours, possibly into rush hour.
